Elena and her family are Jewish immigrants from Kiev, Ukraine. They had heard the call of God in their hearts a couple of years ago and knew that the time had come for them to make aliyah to their ancient homeland of Israel. Ever since then, Elena and her family have been receiving regular aid from us in the form of monthly food baskets, as well as other essentials through our various humanitarian projects and outreaches.
A few weeks after initially meeting Elena and her family, she asked us a very important question: why do we do what we do? She could see there was something different about us, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it. We took time with her and her family to share about the love of Jesus that compels us, and we testified of the deep work that He had done in each of our lives. Elena and her family were so moved by our words that they decided right there and then to start attending our Shabbat services to learn more about God and the Gospel message of Jesus.
The Word of God impacted this family very deeply and awoke a hunger in their hearts for the hope and salvation that can only be found in Jesus. She and her entire family subsequently made the wonderful decision to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Hallelujah! They joined one of our local home groups in Ashdod, and Elena also started attending our monthly women’s meetings, which was a major boost to her spiritual growth and her walk with Jesus. They have grown in leaps and bounds in their faith, and the best is yet to come!
Sometimes the path we walk with others might seem long and winding but is a journey of building trust, allowing the Lord to touch people’s hearts, cultivating the Word of God in their lives, and allowing God to do that which only he can do—to convey a person from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of the Son of His love. Each person has their own journey, process, and time as they answer the call of God, and it’s an important part of our work to walk alongside the people that have heard the Word, to make sure that it takes root, bears precious fruit unto salvation. Amen!
