Living in Israel, as the nation is thrown into the most turbulent and volatile times it has ever seen internally, gives us an insight into many aspects that might be hidden from the sight of those looking from the outside in.
In true Israeli fashion, the current events are extremely complex and not as simple as they might seem to many who rush to take sides.
The fact of the matter is, currently Israel as a nation has never been more divided than at this time. Israeli society has reached a breaking point, mainly due to lack of godly leadership in power that will unite people instead of dividing them.
As believers, we carry a greater responsibility on our shoulders than most, precisely because we have been given the privilege to look at things from a biblical perspective.
It is important to remember God’s response to Joshua when he came face to face with the Lord and tried to understand whose side He was on.
And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “Are You for us or for our adversaries?” So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?”
Joshua 5:13-14

In these turbulent times when we’re constantly facing conflicts and division, we might be tempted to assume God is on one side or the other, when in fact the Lord is above that and comes as the Commander of the army of the Lord to ensure we are on HIS side!
That is why when Joshua was confronted by the Lord, he fell to the ground and said: “What does my Lord say to His servant?”
In these trying times, it is more crucial than ever we open our eyes and ears to hear what the Lord says and how He reveals Himself in the current situation.
We know His promises to Israel stand forever. There is nothing any man can do to change the course of this nation’s fate because it is sealed in God and His calling for His people.
However, these times also require of us, as believers, to take up our position as watchmen on the walls of Israel, as prayer warriors and intercessors that will not keep silent day or night until God heals this nation and fulfills His plans and purposes for His people.
Please pray for these challenging times Israel is going through, for wisdom for the government and leaders, as well as unity among the nation.
