In Paul’s beautiful letter to Timothy, whom he calls a “true son in the faith,” we read how Paul exhorted the young man by writing some of the most impacting words ever written:
Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
1 Timothy 4:12
In that same spirit, we will be taking more than 50 young Israelis on a very special discipleship retreat into the desert of Timna in southern Israel, to sit at the feet of Jesus, and to be prepared and established to take their place as Israel’s next generation of leaders. There are few places so conducive to entering God’s presence as the desert, and that’s one of the reasons why Jesus spent so much time in the wilderness. Our prayer is that this time of discipleship will be powerful, transformative, and fruitful for these young Israelis.
For three whole days these youngsters will be enjoying a time of fellowship, seminars, hiking, camping, prayer, and Bible study. Not only will they build godly friendships amongst each other, but they will also be growing spiritually alongside each other, cultivating lives that serve to glorify God through their words and deeds. And, as you might well know, young people sure do enjoy their meals. We will need to keep them well fed, and as such, we’ll be striking up campfires often to grill hamburgers, hotdogs, kebabs, corn, marshmallows and much more — amen!
Would you be willing to help us cover the total food cost of $2000 for these three days?
The cost per young person comes out to $40. If you, your home-group, or church could prayerfully consider investing in Israel’s youth, and supporting this special youth retreat, then we would be so grateful. Thank you and God bless!
