An important part of our work as ministers in the land of Israel is to connect new Jewish immigrants to their Biblical roots in the land of Israel. It makes such an impression on people to study the Word in the very place that it was written.
Once a month our outreach team takes a group of Olim Chadashim (new Jewish immigrants) to visit Jerusalem, and to teach them about Jesus, and to reveal the places where He performed miracles, healed the sick, and preached the Word of God.
During our most recent evangelistic excursion to Jerusalem, we were joined by 15 Olim. It was a full day of touring the Biblical sites while sharing the Gospel message with the group. It was a tremendous blessing to see the sense of awe and wonder on the faces of the people as they heard the Gospel message while walking in the actual places where the Gospel was first preached, such as the Mount of Olives, the Upper Room, the Via Dolorosa, and the Temple compound.
Our team members, Ephraim, Miri, and Micha’el, also shared their personal testimonies with the group, explaining their own journeys to finding Yeshua and getting saved. That really struck a chord with the group, and many had tears in their eyes as they listened. After the team shared their personal testimonies, Ephraim invited everybody who felt the Lord’s call, to pray the prayer of salvation with him. Half the group decided to pray the prayer to receive Yeshua. We also gave everyone in the group a brand-new Bible as a gift, for which they were very grateful.
As we made our way back to the bus, we saw border police running past us towards Jaffa gate. It turned out that there had been a knife attack by a terrorist at the popular Jaffa Gate of Jerusalem’s old city. We decided to take a detour to avoid the area and went to the lovely Christ Church compound, opposite the Tower of David museum to enjoy a hearty Israeli lunch together.
This detour allowed us to have more time with the group, and to share more about Jerusalem in Bible history, and the glorious and prophetic future that awaits this city of the Great King. We also spent time praying for the needs of the group members and for their loved ones. All in all, it was a blessed and adventurous day, with a number of people getting saved, and the rest given much to think about. We continue to pray for them, that the seeds sown into their hearts will bring forth much fruit.
