When we speak about God’s love and kindness, it is especially important to reflect His character during the season of High holy days by showing that kindness in action.
Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, is the upcoming 7-day feast, which references the harvest. The Sukkot season in Israel focuses on the fall harvest — the last harvest of the year.
It’s important to remember that harvest times in Israel are always connected to spiritual harvest.
Harvest is also a symbol of blessings and abundance when our land bears fruit after we have been working it.
This is the season when we can look back at the year and at the harvest before us, and count our blessings. If we have enough, we are blessed. If we have more than enough, we are beyond blessed.
“And you shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant and the Levite, the stranger and the fatherless and the widow, who are within your gates.” – Deuteronomy 16:14
When we’re sitting in our Tabernacles, under the Lord’s covering and protection, we must make sure that people around us are experiencing the same joy and gratitude.
The Lord makes it clear that joy can only be complete and pleasing to Him if no one is left behind or excluded, that everyone is made part of the blessing: not forgetting the Levites (men of God, spiritual leaders, ministers), the strangers in our land (foreigners), widows and orphans.
This Sukkot our humanitarian focus will be on widows and orphans. The most vulnerable and unprotected in our society.
You can’t imagine how a small donation on your part to help feed a mother and her children and fill her heart with gratitude, because YOU shared your blessings with her.
This is what Feast of Tabernacles is about, deliverance, protection, and blessing.
Give today to help us share the blessing and feed widows and children during this Sukkot season.
