Caring for Widows and Single Mothers: God Has Not Forgotten You

Sometimes the simplest acts of kindness become the clearest reminders that God sees us, loves us, and has not forgotten us.

This week, we received a heartfelt message from Elena, a single mother raising her daughter, Sofia, here in Israel. About a year ago, Elena began attending our congregation, and since then we have watched her faith grow in such a beautiful and genuine way. Even while carrying the challenges of raising her daughter alone, her heart burns for the Lord and for reaching others. She regularly brings people to services, encourages those around her, and looks for ways to serve and care for others.

Recently, thanks to your generous support, we were able to bless Elena and Sofia with groceries and a gift card to help meet practical needs for their family. What may have seemed like a simple gesture became something deeply meaningful to her — a tangible reminder of God’s love and faithfulness during a difficult season.

In her message to the family who helped support her, Elena wrote:

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the groceries and support. To me, this was such a real answer from the Lord and a beautiful reminder of His love. Thank you for listening to His voice and becoming a blessing to my family. I prayed especially for you and your loved ones, asking God to give you health, peace, and strength. May the Lord richly bless you for your kindness and your open hearts. With gratitude, Elena and my daughter Sofia.”

Her words are such a beautiful reminder that ministry is not only about what happens behind a pulpit. Very often, the Gospel is experienced first through compassion. Through someone choosing to care. Through practical love that opens the door for hope to enter a weary heart again.

Scripture reminds us of God’s deep care for widows, single mothers, and vulnerable families. James 1:27 speaks of true faith being lived out through caring for those in need, and time after time we see how the Lord uses simple acts of generosity to touch lives in powerful ways.

What makes Elena’s story especially meaningful is that even in the middle of her own challenges, she continues pouring into others. Her life has become a testimony of how hope restored can become hope shared. A mother who was encouraged now encourages others. A heart strengthened by God now helps lead other hearts toward Him.

Thank you for continuing to stand with us as we reach families across Israel with both practical support and the love of God. Because of your faithfulness, struggling families are being reminded that they are seen, loved, and never alone.

Strengthening the Hands That Serve:
Encouraging Our Pastoral Family in Eilat

Pastors spend much of their lives encouraging others. They pray with families, guide people through difficult seasons, teach the Scriptures, and help believers grow in their faith. Yet those who faithfully shepherd others also need moments to step away from their daily responsibilities, share their hearts, and receive encouragement themselves. Recently, Pastor Israel traveled to […]

Until All Israel Hears —
The Good News Project

Nearly two thousand years ago, the Good News of Yeshua began spreading from Jerusalem to the nations. This November, believers from those nations will come to Israel to stand alongside our Beit Hallel team, sharing that same message in the streets of the very land where it all began. There is something deeply meaningful about […]

One Family’s Journey of Aliyah, Resilience, and Belonging

“We have nowhere left to return to. We’ve already returned. Home.” These are Olga’s words, and they tell us something about the family we’ve come to know through our work at Beit Hallel. Since arriving in Israel, Olga and her family have experienced the joy of welcoming a new baby, the challenges of starting over, […]

Where He Walked, They Prayed:
200 Israelis Encounter the Gospel at Magdala

There are places in Israel where the stories of the Bible suddenly feel very close. Magdala, on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, is one of them. Recently, we brought 200 Israelis to this ancient town, where Yeshua (Jesus) ministered in the surrounding region nearly 2,000 years ago. We wanted them to discover more […]

The Stones Are Ancient:
The Gospel Still Changes Lives

Some places carry a history that time cannot erase. Along the shores of the Sea of Galilee, ancient stones still bear witness to the world Yeshua walked through—the villages where He taught, the people He encountered, and the lives that were forever changed by meeting Him.  As we prepare to welcome 200 Israelis to the […]

Hebrew Word of the Week:
B’yadcha (בְּיָדְךָ) —
Into Your Hand

Some things are simply beyond our control. We can pray, make wise decisions, do everything we know to do, and still reach a point where the outcome is no longer in our hands. This can be one of the hardest places for us, because we naturally want to know what is going to happen and […]
