From Despair to Hope:
A Journey of Faith in Israel

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.

Luke 10:2

As the Beit Hallel follow-up team, we continually witness the hunger for truth and salvation in the Land of Israel. Even among those who seem to have everything—education, success, and stability—there is often a deep longing for something more. This truth was made evident in the lives of Alexander and Lena, a couple who appeared to lack nothing yet desperately needed the hope and healing found in Yeshua.

We were invited by Vicky, Pastor Israel’s wife, to pray for Alexander, who had been diagnosed with cancer. When we arrived at their home, we weren’t sure what to expect. People like Alexander and Lena—well-educated and financially secure—often find it difficult to accept Yeshua. But something remarkable happened. It was as if a door to their hearts had already been opened before we even stepped inside.

From the very beginning, Lena felt comfortable sharing her heart.

She spoke of the struggles they had been facing and how, despite it all, she sensed that God had been guiding her. We could see how prayers from our intercessory team had already been at work in their lives, softening their hearts and preparing them for this moment.

One of our team members, Chaim, shared a personal testimony—how he had once been deeply disillusioned with religion, convinced that it had nothing to offer. But the Lord, in His mercy, answered Chaim’s unspoken cries and transformed his life. As Chaim spoke, we could see both Alexander and Lena listening intently, their hearts open in a way they had never been before.

Then, we offered them something greater than just a prayer for healing. We invited them to receive not only physical restoration but also the gift of eternal life through faith in Yeshua. To our joy, they agreed! Right there in their home, we led them in a prayer of repentance and salvation, lifting up Alexander’s health and placing their future in God’s hands.

But the story didn’t end there.

When we told them about our small home fellowship groups—where we gather, drink tea, and study God’s Word together—they were excited. Lena immediately invited us to return for tea and Bible study in their home.

A few days later, we came back—this time bringing along Rada, a professional massage therapist and a dear sister in faith. Lena had been suffering from severe back pain, and when Rada heard about it, she felt led to come and serve in a practical way.

As Rada ministered to Lena through massage, we spent time with Alexander—drinking tea, reading Scripture, and praying together. God’s timing couldn’t have been more perfect, because earlier that day Alexander received news that his cancer had worsened. In the midst of this storm, God was holding Alexander and Lena in a powerful way.

Lena was deeply touched.

Not only did she experience relief from her physical pain, but she also felt the love and support of a spiritual family in her time of distress. Alexander, too, found great comfort in the prayers and fellowship.

During the massage, Lena opened up even more to Rada. She shared how lonely she had been, how she longed for real fellowship. Hearing this, Rada invited her to a worship service, and Lena accepted! She is now ready to step into a community of faith, seeking the deeper connection her soul has been longing for.

This story is a powerful reminder that in Israel—the land where Yeshua walked—many still hunger and thirst for God. They are searching for the truth, waiting for someone to bring them the message of hope and salvation.

As the Beit Hallel follow-up team, we are privileged to be part of this mission. But the work is vast, and the need is great.

Would you join us in praying for Alexander and Lena, and for the many others in Israel who are still searching? May we never grow weary in bringing the Good News to this land, for the harvest is indeed plentiful, and the workers are few.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Encouraging Our Pastoral Family in Eilat

Pastors spend much of their lives encouraging others. They pray with families, guide people through difficult seasons, teach the Scriptures, and help believers grow in their faith. Yet those who faithfully shepherd others also need moments to step away from their daily responsibilities, share their hearts, and receive encouragement themselves. Recently, Pastor Israel traveled to […]

Hebrew Word of the Week:

Some things are simply beyond our control. We can pray, make wise decisions, do everything we know to do, and still reach a point where the outcome is no longer in our hands. This can be one of the hardest places for us, because we naturally want to know what is going to happen and […]
