From Sorrow to Joy – Miriam’s Life Transformed

Sometimes the darkest valleys of pain and loss become the very places where God’s light breaks through.

Miriam’s story began when our follow-up team reached out to her after one of our recent evangelism events. They discovered a woman weighed down by heartbreak. With tears in her eyes, Miriam shared that her daughter had passed away suddenly at just 45 years old, leaving behind young grandchildren for her to raise. Overnight, she found herself both grieving the loss of her child and carrying the heavy responsibility of caring for the little ones left behind. Her heart was shattered, and her spirit felt crushed.

In a time when Israel itself is facing war, uncertainty, and so much hardship, Miriam’s personal tragedy was almost unbearable.

Yet it was in this very moment that God was preparing to meet her in a powerful way.

As our follow-up team listened and cared for her, they gently shared the hope of the Gospel. They told her about Yeshua — the One who carried our sorrows, the One who turns ashes into beauty and mourning into joy. As Miriam listened, her tears didn’t stop, but something shifted. Hope began to stir. She realized there was a way out of despair, that a Savior who understood her grief was reaching out to her with love.

With a sincere and open heart, Miriam prayed together with the team, repenting and receiving Yeshua as her Lord and Savior. She was given a Bible, and they showed her how to begin reading God’s Word for herself. She gladly accepted the invitation to stay in touch, attend Bible studies, and be part of a spiritual family where she would never have to walk alone again.

The transformation was immediate and visible. Miriam had come to us broken and heavy with grief, but she left with peace and even a smile on her face. Hope had taken root in her heart, and joy had begun to replace sorrow.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18

This is the power of the gospel in action. A grieving grandmother, once overcome by loss, encountered the living God and walked away with salvation and joy. Thanks to the faithfulness of our follow-up team, she is now surrounded by care, discipleship, and the love of her new spiritual family.

The Unexpected Encounter That Gave Marina Hope

Marina* came to our Sukkot celebration carrying a fear she could do nothing about. Her son was in prison in Ukraine, badly wounded, and she did not know what would happen to him. She had no idea that among the people she would meet that day was someone whose own story would touch hers in […]

The Work He Left In Our Hands —
Galilee Evangelism Campaign

Here in Israel, many people can know the names of biblical places and the stories connected with them — and still know very little about who Yeshua really is. For many of the new Jewish immigrants we meet, Israel itself is also new. They are building a life in a new country, discovering the land, […]

“Please Don’t Wait Too Long” —
Holocaust Survivors Project Report

Some of the Holocaust survivors who walked into our gathering in Ashdod already knew us. Others did not. We could see the hesitation on a few faces, and we understood it. They had been invited into a room with people they barely knew — and we were wondering how they would respond when we spoke […]

Inside the Sukkah:
Remembering the God Who Provides

One of the things I love about Sukkot is how many simple reminders of God’s faithfulness surround us during this Feast. We build the sukkah, we sit beneath its branches, we share meals together as families, and we remember something our people have needed to remember for thousands of years: everything we have ultimately comes […]

Hebrew Word of the Week:
Adonai Uzzi (יְהוָה עֻזִּי) —
The LORD Is My Strength

We all become tired sometimes, and I don’t mean only physically. There is another kind of tiredness that comes when you have been carrying something for a long time. You have prayed, you have tried to make the right decisions, you have kept going, but the situation has still not changed. After some time, you […]

“Don’t Forget Us. Come Again” —
Holocaust Survivors Praise Report

The Moroccan food was a hit. We had brought it from Ashdod for a gathering with Holocaust survivors in Jerusalem, and before long people around the tables were asking about our city. What is Ashdod like? Could they come visit sometime? We loved that. Somewhere between passing plates, talking across the table and getting to […]
