Hebrew Word of the Week —
Natan (נָתַן) —
Freely Given, Freely Received

In everyday life, giving and receiving are part of almost every relationship — at home, in ministry, and in the community around us. The Bible shows us that this pattern is not human invention; it reflects the character of God Himself.

🕊 What Natan Means

The Hebrew word natan (נָתַן, nah-TAHN) means to give, to grant, to place in someone’s hands. It appears thousands of times in the Hebrew Bible, beginning in Genesis and continuing throughout the Torah, Prophets, and Writings. God is repeatedly described as the One who gives life, blessing, purpose, and strength.

📖 Biblical Foundation

Psalm 85:12 says: “The Lord will indeed give (natan) what is good.” This truth becomes even clearer when we look at Yeshua.

👑 The “Natan” of Yeshua

Yeshua did not simply talk about God’s generosity — He demonstrated it. His entire ministry was defined by giving.

  • He gave healing to those who were sick and suffering.
  • He gave forgiveness to those burdened by guilt.
  • He gave hope to people who had lost direction.
  • He gave truth to those confused by fear or doubt. He gave dignity to individuals others had ignored.

Most importantly, Yeshua gave Himself. His death and resurrection are the greatest expression of God’s giving nature — not offering part of Himself, but all. Through Him we receive new life, a restored relationship with God, and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

🌟 What Does Natan Mean for You?

For believers today, Natan is a reminder that everything we need comes through Him. We are not required to live in our own strength or depend on our own resources. Instead, we receive from Yeshua — wisdom for decisions, peace in difficulty, grace for weakness, courage for challenges, and direction for the future.

At the same time, Natan also points to our calling. Because we receive freely from Him, we can give freely to others. Our time, encouragement, abilities, finances, and compassion become expressions of His generosity working through us.

There may be seasons when life feels demanding, and the needs around us seem larger than what we have to offer. Even in those moments, Yeshua continues to give. His provision is not limited by circumstances, and His generosity does not decrease when we feel stretched or uncertain.

🙏 A Simple Prayer

Lord Yeshua, thank You for all You have given and continue to give. Help me to recognize Your gifts in my life and depend on Your strength. Teach me to give freely to others, just as You have given freely to me.

As you enter this week, remember that God is not distant or withholding. Through Yeshua, He continues to give what is good and needed — guidance, strength, peace, and grace that carry you through each day. His “natan” is seen through His all-encompassing love for us…freely given and freely received.

Strengthening the Hands That Serve:
Encouraging Our Pastoral Family in Eilat

Pastors spend much of their lives encouraging others. They pray with families, guide people through difficult seasons, teach the Scriptures, and help believers grow in their faith. Yet those who faithfully shepherd others also need moments to step away from their daily responsibilities, share their hearts, and receive encouragement themselves. Recently, Pastor Israel traveled to […]

Until All Israel Hears —
The Good News Project

Nearly two thousand years ago, the Good News of Yeshua began spreading from Jerusalem to the nations. This November, believers from those nations will come to Israel to stand alongside our Beit Hallel team, sharing that same message in the streets of the very land where it all began. There is something deeply meaningful about […]

One Family’s Journey of Aliyah, Resilience, and Belonging

“We have nowhere left to return to. We’ve already returned. Home.” These are Olga’s words, and they tell us something about the family we’ve come to know through our work at Beit Hallel. Since arriving in Israel, Olga and her family have experienced the joy of welcoming a new baby, the challenges of starting over, […]

Where He Walked, They Prayed:
200 Israelis Encounter the Gospel at Magdala

There are places in Israel where the stories of the Bible suddenly feel very close. Magdala, on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, is one of them. Recently, we brought 200 Israelis to this ancient town, where Yeshua (Jesus) ministered in the surrounding region nearly 2,000 years ago. We wanted them to discover more […]

The Stones Are Ancient:
The Gospel Still Changes Lives

Some places carry a history that time cannot erase. Along the shores of the Sea of Galilee, ancient stones still bear witness to the world Yeshua walked through—the villages where He taught, the people He encountered, and the lives that were forever changed by meeting Him.  As we prepare to welcome 200 Israelis to the […]

Hebrew Word of the Week:
B’yadcha (בְּיָדְךָ) —
Into Your Hand

Some things are simply beyond our control. We can pray, make wise decisions, do everything we know to do, and still reach a point where the outcome is no longer in our hands. This can be one of the hardest places for us, because we naturally want to know what is going to happen and […]
