Hebrew Word of the Week —
Qavah (קָוָה) —
Hope That Renews Your Strength

Every one of us knows what it feels like to wait — for answers, for breakthrough, for healing, for clarity. Waiting can be hard, especially when we don’t see movement and our strength feels thin. In the Hebrew Bible, there is a powerful word for this kind of waiting: Qavah (קָוָה, kah-VAH). It means to wait with expectation, to hope, to look eagerly for God’s intervention.

Qavah isn’t passive. It’s not sitting back, discouraged or defeated. Qavah is the kind of waiting that leans forward — a hope that stretches the heart toward God with trust. This is the word Isaiah chose when he wrote one of the most loved promises in Scripture:

“But those who wait (qavah) for the Lord shall renew their strength…”

Isaiah 40:31

Qavah is hope tied to endurance. It is faith in motion. It is trust refusing to give up.

And we see the beauty of Qavah most clearly in Yeshua.

Throughout His ministry, people who came to Yeshua carried this kind of hopeful waiting. The woman with the issue of blood who pushed through the crowd… Blind Bartimaeus who cried out louder when others told him to be quiet…The friends who lowered their paralyzed companion through a roof…

Their hearts were qavah — stretched toward Him with expectation. And every time, Yeshua met them with power and compassion.

✨ Why It Matters

Qavah reminds us that waiting is not wasted when we wait on God. Even when nothing seems to be changing externally, He is renewing our strength internally — giving us endurance, sharpening our faith, preparing the breakthrough we cannot yet see.

Maybe you’re in a season of waiting right now. For direction. For healing. For provision. For a miracle. Let this word speak life over you: Qavah — Hope That Renews Your Strength.

You are not standing still. You are being renewed. And Yeshua is already in your tomorrow.

🙏 A Prayer

Lord Yeshua, teach me to Qavah — to wait on You with hope and expectation. Renew my strength, lift my spirit, and prepare my heart for what You are doing. Help me trust Your timing and Your goodness in every season of waiting.

Strengthening the Hands That Serve:
Encouraging Our Pastoral Family in Eilat

Pastors spend much of their lives encouraging others. They pray with families, guide people through difficult seasons, teach the Scriptures, and help believers grow in their faith. Yet those who faithfully shepherd others also need moments to step away from their daily responsibilities, share their hearts, and receive encouragement themselves. Recently, Pastor Israel traveled to […]

Until All Israel Hears —
The Good News Project

Nearly two thousand years ago, the Good News of Yeshua began spreading from Jerusalem to the nations. This November, believers from those nations will come to Israel to stand alongside our Beit Hallel team, sharing that same message in the streets of the very land where it all began. There is something deeply meaningful about […]

Where He Walked, They Prayed:
200 Israelis Encounter the Gospel at Magdala

There are places in Israel where the stories of the Bible suddenly feel very close. Magdala, on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, is one of them. Recently, we brought 200 Israelis to this ancient town, where Yeshua (Jesus) ministered in the surrounding region nearly 2,000 years ago. We wanted them to discover more […]

The Stones Are Ancient:
The Gospel Still Changes Lives

Some places carry a history that time cannot erase. Along the shores of the Sea of Galilee, ancient stones still bear witness to the world Yeshua walked through—the villages where He taught, the people He encountered, and the lives that were forever changed by meeting Him.  As we prepare to welcome 200 Israelis to the […]

Hebrew Word of the Week:
B’yadcha (בְּיָדְךָ) —
Into Your Hand

Some things are simply beyond our control. We can pray, make wise decisions, do everything we know to do, and still reach a point where the outcome is no longer in our hands. This can be one of the hardest places for us, because we naturally want to know what is going to happen and […]
