Oleg’s Testimony

Oleg from Ashkelon has an incredible story that speaks to the power of God’s love and the transformative impact of community.

We first met Oleg and his son, Alex, during one of our food distribution projects in Ashkelon. As we handed out essential supplies, we got to know them and learned about the challenges they were facing. Oleg, a devoted father, shared with us how he was struggling, not just because of his circumstances but because of the weight he carried in his heart.

Seeing his need for spiritual support, we invited Oleg to join us at the Alpha course where people can explore faith and ask questions in a welcoming environment. Oleg accepted the invitation and began attending regularly. Although his son couldn’t join him due to work commitments, Oleg’s heart was deeply burdened for Alex. He knew that his son needed God, especially given the challenges they faced as a family. Oleg’s children are triplets, all of whom have cerebral palsy, and the weight of their condition, combined with the pain of his wife divorcing him, was almost too much to bear.

But Oleg didn’t carry these burdens alone. During the Alpha course, we prayed together for his son and his family.

We stood with him in faith, believing that God could work miracles in their lives.

Over time, something amazing happened. Oleg not only continued with the Alpha course, but he also brought his son along when he could. Both Oleg and Alex came to the end of the Alpha course with transformed hearts. They both repented, accepted God into their lives, and prayed for the reception of the Holy Spirit.

But the journey didn’t end there. Oleg began attending a home group, where he found a community of believers who supported him, encouraged him, and walked with him as he grew in his faith. He also started attending our regular services, where his faith continues to deepen.

Oleg’s testimony is a beautiful reminder that even amid life’s greatest challenges, God’s love and grace can break through. It’s a story of a father’s heart, a community’s support, and the power of prayer.

We praise God for the work He is doing in Ilya’s life and in the lives of so many others here in Israel.

When God Knows the Whole Story:
The Unexpected Encounter That Gave Marina Hope

Marina* came to our Sukkot celebration carrying a fear she could do nothing about. Her son was in prison in Ukraine, badly wounded, and she did not know what would happen to him. She had no idea that among the people she would meet that day was someone whose own story would touch hers in […]

The Work He Left In Our Hands —
Galilee Evangelism Campaign

Here in Israel, many people can know the names of biblical places and the stories connected with them — and still know very little about who Yeshua really is. For many of the new Jewish immigrants we meet, Israel itself is also new. They are building a life in a new country, discovering the land, […]

“Please Don’t Wait Too Long” —
Holocaust Survivors Project Report

Some of the Holocaust survivors who walked into our gathering in Ashdod already knew us. Others did not. We could see the hesitation on a few faces, and we understood it. They had been invited into a room with people they barely knew — and we were wondering how they would respond when we spoke […]

Inside the Sukkah:
Remembering the God Who Provides

One of the things I love about Sukkot is how many simple reminders of God’s faithfulness surround us during this Feast. We build the sukkah, we sit beneath its branches, we share meals together as families, and we remember something our people have needed to remember for thousands of years: everything we have ultimately comes […]

Hebrew Word of the Week:
Adonai Uzzi (יְהוָה עֻזִּי) —
The LORD Is My Strength

We all become tired sometimes, and I don’t mean only physically. There is another kind of tiredness that comes when you have been carrying something for a long time. You have prayed, you have tried to make the right decisions, you have kept going, but the situation has still not changed. After some time, you […]

“Don’t Forget Us. Come Again” —
Holocaust Survivors Praise Report

The Moroccan food was a hit. We had brought it from Ashdod for a gathering with Holocaust survivors in Jerusalem, and before long people around the tables were asking about our city. What is Ashdod like? Could they come visit sometime? We loved that. Somewhere between passing plates, talking across the table and getting to […]
