There is something sacred about childhood. It is the season when foundations are laid, when identity begins to form, when joy and security shape the way a young heart will interpret the world. And here in Israel, many of our children have grown up in years that have felt anything but simple. They have heard conversations about war and security. They have watched parents carry burdens they barely understand. They have absorbed tension that was never meant for them. And yet, they are still children. They still need celebration. They still need light.
Purim is, at its core, a story of reversal. In the book of Esther, we read of a moment when fear gripped an entire people—when a decree of destruction loomed over their future. But what was meant for evil was turned into deliverance. Sorrow became joy. Mourning became celebration. And part of that celebration included intentional generosity:
“days of feasting and joy and giving presents to one another and gifts to the poor”
Esther 9:22
Purim joy was never meant to be contained; it was meant to be shared.

This year, our Purim Kids Project is our way of stepping directly into that biblical pattern. Our goal is to bless 500 children across Israel with special Purim gift packs—each one prepared with care and prayer, each one carrying more than treats. At $20 per gift pack, you are not simply covering the cost of sweets or small surprises. You are planting joy. You are sowing reassurance. You are declaring to a child’s heart that even in a complex season, celebration is still possible.
In recent years, many families in Israel have faced emotional and financial strain. Some parents have been called up for military service. Some homes have been disrupted by displacement or uncertainty. Children often do not have the language to explain what they feel, but they carry it quietly. A Purim gift pack cannot erase every difficulty—but it can create a moment. A moment of laughter. A moment of color. A moment where a child feels seen and remembered.

Scripture tells us:
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds”
Psalms 147:3
Sometimes healing begins in grand ways. Sometimes it begins in small, practical expressions of kindness. A bag placed into small hands. A smile. A reminder that someone thought of them. These gestures may seem simple, but in God’s economy, nothing given in love is insignificant.
Purim also reminds us that God’s work is often hidden before it becomes visible. Throughout the story of Esther, the Lord’s name is never mentioned, yet His providence guides every detail. In the same way, when we invest in children, we may not immediately see the fruit. But we trust that seeds of hope, resilience, and faith are being planted in tender soil. One day, those seeds will grow.

We invite you to stand with us in blessing 500 children this Purim. Whether you sponsor one child or many, your generosity becomes part of a larger story—one that reflects God’s heart for the vulnerable and mirrors the very spirit of Purim itself. $20 places a gift pack into the hands of one child in Israel. Together, we can transform 500 small acts of generosity into 500 tangible reminders that joy has not been defeated.
As we celebrate Purim this year, may we not only remember how God turned sorrow into gladness, but participate in that transformation ourselves. Thank you for helping us plant joy in tender hearts—one child at a time.
