Rosa’s Story – The Day a Jewelry Box Held Something Eternal

There are moments in ministry that remind us why we do what we do—not because of the size of the gathering, but because of what God does in a single heart. Recently, one of our team members, Chaim, who regularly visits Holocaust survivors, took part in a special celebration with a group of them. It was a warm and joyful gathering, where several birthday celebrants were honored—each one carrying a lifetime of history, resilience, and quiet strength.

As part of the celebration, we brought a small gift for each of them: a delicate jewelry box—a place to hold precious little things, memories, and treasures. But this gift carried a deeper meaning. As they were handed out, he shared from the heart that this jewelry box represents something even more valuable—our hearts. Just like a jewelry box holds what is most precious, our hearts hold what we choose to place inside. And what we put in… is what we carry, and ultimately, what we give out. He encouraged them to fill their hearts with what truly matters—love, peace, and forgiveness.

After that, the room came alive with music. They sang together, laughed, and even danced. It was one of those beautiful moments when generations connect, when joy overcomes heaviness, and when something deeper begins to unfold beneath the surface. And in the middle of it all, one woman stood out. Her name was Rosa. She was one of the birthday celebrants, but there was something especially radiant about her. She was full of joy—smiling, dancing, fully present in the moment. You could see that this wasn’t just another gathering for her; it touched her deeply.

As our team member watched her, he felt a strong prompting in his heart. He had a prayer card with him—a simple written version of the Sinner’s Prayer—and he knew he wanted to give it to her, something she could place inside that jewelry box as a treasure of eternal value. But as the gathering came to an end and people began heading home, he realized he hadn’t yet had the chance. He saw her walking toward the elevator, and for a moment, he thought he had missed it.

But God had already made a way. Instead of leaving, Rosa stepped into a nearby prayer room to wait for a friend. It was quiet now—the music had faded, the room had emptied—and it felt like one of those sacred moments that God prepares ahead of time. He approached her and shared what was on his heart—that he felt led to pray for her. Without hesitation, she opened up. She shared that she was worried about her health and was going through medical tests. “Right now,” she said, “I really need this.” So they prayed.

Right there in that quiet room, he lifted her up—asking for peace, for healing, for God’s presence to surround her. And then he gently returned to the meaning of the jewelry box. He shared again that our hearts are like that box—and the most precious thing we could ever place inside is the gift the Father has already given: His Son, given for her—for her burdens, her past, and everything she carries.

He then asked her if she would like to pray with him—to pray the Sinner’s Prayer and receive this gift personally. She didn’t hesitate. With sincerity and openness, Rosa prayed out loud—receiving that gift, not just into a small box, but into her heart. And in that moment, something changed. The joy she had before became deeper, fuller.

It was no longer just the joy of celebration—it was the joy of encountering God. That small jewelry box became something so much more, because she didn’t just place the prayer inside it—she placed it inside her heart. And in that quiet room, something eternal took place: a life touched, a heart opened, a moment that will never be forgotten.

Thank you for standing with us and making moments like this possible. Because of your support, our team is able to continue reaching people like Rosa—bringing not only practical care, but the greatest gift of all. And somewhere tonight, that small jewelry box may sit quietly on a table… but inside, it now holds something far greater than a keepsake. It holds a decision. A prayer. A new beginning.

This is why we go. This is why we serve. And this is what your partnership makes possible. Because sometimes, something small—like a jewelry box—can hold a treasure that changes everything.

Strengthening the Hands That Serve:
Encouraging Our Pastoral Family in Eilat

Pastors spend much of their lives encouraging others. They pray with families, guide people through difficult seasons, teach the Scriptures, and help believers grow in their faith. Yet those who faithfully shepherd others also need moments to step away from their daily responsibilities, share their hearts, and receive encouragement themselves. Recently, Pastor Israel traveled to […]

Until All Israel Hears —
The Good News Project

Nearly two thousand years ago, the Good News of Yeshua began spreading from Jerusalem to the nations. This November, believers from those nations will come to Israel to stand alongside our Beit Hallel team, sharing that same message in the streets of the very land where it all began. There is something deeply meaningful about […]

Where He Walked, They Prayed:
200 Israelis Encounter the Gospel at Magdala

There are places in Israel where the stories of the Bible suddenly feel very close. Magdala, on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, is one of them. Recently, we brought 200 Israelis to this ancient town, where Yeshua (Jesus) ministered in the surrounding region nearly 2,000 years ago. We wanted them to discover more […]

The Stones Are Ancient:
The Gospel Still Changes Lives

Some places carry a history that time cannot erase. Along the shores of the Sea of Galilee, ancient stones still bear witness to the world Yeshua walked through—the villages where He taught, the people He encountered, and the lives that were forever changed by meeting Him.  As we prepare to welcome 200 Israelis to the […]

Hebrew Word of the Week:
B’yadcha (בְּיָדְךָ) —
Into Your Hand

Some things are simply beyond our control. We can pray, make wise decisions, do everything we know to do, and still reach a point where the outcome is no longer in our hands. This can be one of the hardest places for us, because we naturally want to know what is going to happen and […]
