The Kind of Hope That Heals the Heart—Irina's Testimony

One of the most powerful things God does is often through simple human connection. A conversation. A prayer. A moment where someone who has carried pain in silence suddenly realizes they are not alone. Time after time, we see that relationships are what open the door for the message of Yeshua to truly reach the heart — especially when someone is walking through a season of deep darkness.

Recently, one of those moments unfolded through a conversation with a woman named Irina, a refugee from Ukraine. Like so many whose lives have been shattered by war, she arrived carrying unimaginable pain. The war had taken almost everything from her. Two apartments she once owned were gone, destroyed along with the life she had spent years building. Israel became a place of refuge for her — a place of safety after escaping the devastation of war — but even after finding shelter, the emotional wounds she carried remained incredibly deep. For four years she had been living under a cloud of depression, relying on antidepressants and struggling to find joy or peace again.

As we spent time speaking with her, we gently began sharing that there is something greater than the losses of this world. We talked about the eternal hope found in God — that our true home is ultimately with Him, and that there is a joy that circumstances cannot destroy. We shared about His perfect love, about the way He changes lives, heals broken hearts, and meets people even in their darkest valleys. We told her that what Yeshua did was not only for others long ago, but for her personally as well.

Something began to shift in her heart.

Irina shared that she had always believed in Jesus and loved Him, but had never truly known Him closely or personally. As the conversation continued, she quietly agreed that she wanted to invite Him fully into her life. Right there, with tears streaming down her face, she prayed sincerely from the depths of her heart.

Afterward, she looked at us and said something we will never forget: “It feels like a stone has been lifted from my soul.”

Those words capture exactly why this ongoing ministry of presence and relationship matters so much. Behind every smile can be a hidden battle. Behind every refugee story, every lonely elderly person, every struggling family, every searching soul, there is often a heart desperate for hope. Many people will never step into a congregation or seek spiritual answers on their own unless someone first reaches out to them personally with compassion, consistency, and genuine care.

This is the heartbeat of what we continue doing week after week at Beit Hallel.

We are not simply organizing meetings or events. We are building relationships that create space for the message of Yeshua to reach hurting hearts. We are walking alongside people through grief, trauma, loneliness, fear, and uncertainty so they can encounter the love of God in a real and personal way.

In a world filled with darkness and instability, these moments of connection become life-changing. A simple conversation can open the door to healing. A caring relationship can lead someone back to hope. And one sincere prayer can completely transform the direction of a person’s life.

Thank you for continuing to stand with us as we reach people like Irina here in Israel. Your prayers, encouragement, and faithful support make these encounters possible. Together, we are reminding people who feel forgotten that God still sees them, still loves them, and still draws near to the brokenhearted.

The Unexpected Encounter That Gave Marina Hope

Marina* came to our Sukkot celebration carrying a fear she could do nothing about. Her son was in prison in Ukraine, badly wounded, and she did not know what would happen to him. She had no idea that among the people she would meet that day was someone whose own story would touch hers in […]

The Work He Left In Our Hands —
Galilee Evangelism Campaign

Here in Israel, many people can know the names of biblical places and the stories connected with them — and still know very little about who Yeshua really is. For many of the new Jewish immigrants we meet, Israel itself is also new. They are building a life in a new country, discovering the land, […]

“Please Don’t Wait Too Long” —
Holocaust Survivors Project Report

Some of the Holocaust survivors who walked into our gathering in Ashdod already knew us. Others did not. We could see the hesitation on a few faces, and we understood it. They had been invited into a room with people they barely knew — and we were wondering how they would respond when we spoke […]

Inside the Sukkah:
Remembering the God Who Provides

One of the things I love about Sukkot is how many simple reminders of God’s faithfulness surround us during this Feast. We build the sukkah, we sit beneath its branches, we share meals together as families, and we remember something our people have needed to remember for thousands of years: everything we have ultimately comes […]

Hebrew Word of the Week:
Adonai Uzzi (יְהוָה עֻזִּי) —
The LORD Is My Strength

We all become tired sometimes, and I don’t mean only physically. There is another kind of tiredness that comes when you have been carrying something for a long time. You have prayed, you have tried to make the right decisions, you have kept going, but the situation has still not changed. After some time, you […]

“Don’t Forget Us. Come Again” —
Holocaust Survivors Praise Report

The Moroccan food was a hit. We had brought it from Ashdod for a gathering with Holocaust survivors in Jerusalem, and before long people around the tables were asking about our city. What is Ashdod like? Could they come visit sometime? We loved that. Somewhere between passing plates, talking across the table and getting to […]
