Many years ago, when a young woman named Vicky met Israel Pochtar, she could not have imagined the extraordinary adventure God was preparing for them.
At first glance, she saw a spirited and passionate young man ablaze with love for Jesus, deeply committed to dedicating his life to the service of God. What she didn’t yet realize was how their lives, intertwined by divine purpose, would touch and transform thousands of others.
Close to 30 years ago, Vicky and Israel embarked on a journey that would change the course of their lives forever. This journey wasn’t just about their marriage or personal calling—it was about a mission that would ripple across Israel and far beyond.
For the Pochtars, their calling into ministry was an undeniable conviction that God had placed on their hearts.
That young man Vicky first met had a big dream, one rooted in faith and boldness. Over the years, those dreams only grew larger as they stepped out in obedience to God’s call. The road was not easy—far from it. Together, they faced unspeakable hardships, relentless challenges, and harsh persecutions that made them targets for many years. Yet, through every trial, their commitment to God’s vision for His kingdom in Israel never wavered.
For Vicky, being the wife of a senior pastor who now leads one of the largest congregations in Israel, as well as an international ministry focused on sharing what God is doing in Israel, is both a privilege and a great responsibility. Her role as ezer ke-negdoh—a helper by his side—has been pivotal in enabling Pastor Israel to dream even bigger and carry out a ministry with remarkable impact. Vicky has been a pillar of strength, walking with her husband through both the mountaintops and the valleys.
Over the past (almost) 30 years, their journey has been marked by incredible highs and painful lows.
It has been a life filled with adventure, miracles, breakthroughs, and amazing victories, alongside moments of difficulty, opposition, and persecution. Through it all, God has been their constant refuge, carrying them through deep waters and using them as vessels for His glory.
Vicky reflects that, since the moment they met, there hasn’t been a boring day—and they wouldn’t have it any other way. Together, they’ve witnessed God’s faithfulness firsthand as He continues to use them to build His kingdom in ways they never dreamed possible.
