We’re stepping into one of the most special seasons on God’s calendar — the High Holy Days, the Moedim, His appointed times. As summer fades into fall, you can feel the atmosphere in Israel begin to shift. Families are preparing their tables, prayers are rising from synagogues and homes, and hearts are leaning in with expectation for what the Lord is about to do.
These aren’t just cultural traditions. They are God’s feasts — holy appointments that carry His heart, His promises, and His prophetic voice. Each one is a reminder of His faithfulness in the past, an invitation to meet Him afresh in the present, and a signpost pointing us toward His glorious future.
Israel in a Prophetic Hour
This year, the Feasts come in the midst of shaking and war. Israel is surrounded on many sides, and antisemitism is rising across the nations. Yet, nothing is outside of God’s plan. What we are seeing is prophecy unfolding right before our eyes.
Through it all, the Feast of Trumpets rises as a powerful declaration: God is still on the throne, and His covenant with Israel still stands. Nations rise and fall, but His promises never fail.
The Sound That Awakens
The Bible describes this Feast with just one verse:
“In the seventh month, on the first day… you shall have a sabbath rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation”
Leviticus 23:24
Simple words — yet the sound of the shofar carries eternity within it. Its piercing cry wakes us up, calls us back, and prepares us for the coming of the Lord. The Hebrew name is Zichron Teruah — a “remembrance of the sounding.” It reminds us of the day when the final trumpet will announce the return of our Messiah.
A Nation Preparing
Here in Israel, the weeks before Rosh Hashanah are filled with prayers of repentance and forgiveness. Families write blessings to one another, people gather in Jerusalem, and reconciliation is sought. When the shofar sounds on that day, the entire nation pauses. Across the land, the blasts echo with warning, joy, and covenant hope: “The Lord reigns, His mercy endures, His promises never fail.”
A Call to Us All
For us as believers, this Feast carries a personal call. Yeshua Himself spoke of the day when the trumpet will sound and He will return (Matthew 24:31). Every year that we hear the shofar, we are one year closer.
It’s a time to pray — for Israel’s salvation, for awakening among the nations, for your family, and for your own walk with the Lord. As we honor His appointed times, we align ourselves with His heart and open the door for fresh encounters with His Spirit.
A Season of Hope and Joy
Even in a season of war and uncertainty, the Feast of Trumpets releases shemen sasson — the oil of joy — over all who call on His Name. It is a season of celebration and hope.
As we step into these High Holy Days, let us pray together:
- For Israel’s salvation
- For peace in Jerusalem
- For the blessing of God to rest on you and your family
May this season remind us that the God of Israel is faithful, His Word is true, and His return is near.
