From Dry Bones to A Living Nation

When God took Ezekiel in the spirit and brought him to a valley, the prophet saw it filled with dry bones. The Lord then gave Ezekiel one of the most powerful prophecies in the Bible. The prophecy over the dry bones of Israel.

Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.’

Ezekiel 37:11-14

Israel is alive because of God’s promises. We celebrate the miraculous rebirth of the nation of Israel 72 years ago, and as believers we fully trust God will bring the rest of the prophecy to fulfillment, which is: “…put my Spirit in you and you will live.”

It is a wonderful reminder to us that God is faithful and that His Word remains true! The bible is filled with God’s promises regarding the restoration of His nation, the establishment of the modern State of Israel, and the return of the Jewish people to the land.

For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land.

Ezekiel 36:24

Thousands of years ago God promised the Jewish people, while they were still scattered among the nations, that He would bring them back to the land of their fathers: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He promised that He would root them in the land of Israel and that they will not be uprooted again. He promised that they would prosper as a nation and flourish as He brought them to the Land.

The proof is that in the past year Israel saw the biggest immigration wave in 20 years! Over 38,000 new olim arrived in Israel in the past year, boosting the population to 9.5 million on the eve of the nation’s 74th Independence Day.

Interesting facts: there are over 7 million Jews in Israel, 2 million Arabs, and half a million of members of other groups. About 79% of Israel’s Jewish population is native-born.

In days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will bud and blossom and fill all the world with fruit.

Isaiah 27:6

The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God.

Isaiah 35:1-2
