Imagine being a child who must leave behind everything familiar. The streets where you learned to ride your bicycle. The bedroom where your favorite toys still sit on the shelf. The friends you laughed with every day. The language you’ve always spoken. The place you simply called home. Then, almost overnight, you find yourself stepping onto a plane bound for Israel, carrying little more than a suitcase and the hope that somehow this new beginning will become home.
For hundreds of Jewish families, this is not imagination—it is reality. Over the past months, families have continued to return to Israel from Ukraine, Russia, and many other nations as war, rising antisemitism, and growing uncertainty have made life increasingly difficult. They are leaving behind familiar lives in order to begin again in the land God promised to their fathers. For parents, it is a courageous step of faith. For their children, it is the beginning of an entirely new world—a new language, a new school, new classmates, new routines, and a future that is still waiting to unfold.
Beginning again is never easy, especially through the eyes of a child. Yet throughout Scripture we see the heart of God gathering His people home. What we are witnessing today is far more than a humanitarian story; it is part of the unfolding faithfulness of God. The words spoken through the prophet Isaiah centuries ago are becoming reality before our very eyes, one family at a time. What a privilege it is to witness this remarkable season in Israel’s history.
At Beit Hallel, we believe welcoming these families home means far more than celebrating their arrival. It means walking alongside them as they take their first steps in a new life. This year, we have the opportunity to bless 350 children from newly arrived immigrant families as they prepare for their first school year in Israel, providing each one with a quality backpack, essential school supplies, and book vouchers to help them begin this new chapter with confidence.
A backpack may seem like a simple gift, but to a child who has left everything behind, it speaks a much deeper message. It quietly says, “You are seen. You are welcome. You belong here.”Practical help cannot erase every challenge of starting over, but it can remind a child—and their parents—that they are not walking this journey alone. Isn’t that exactly how Yeshua ministered? Again and again, He met practical needs with extraordinary compassion, revealing the Father’s heart through simple acts of love. As His followers, we have the privilege of doing the same.
Over the coming weeks, we would love to introduce you to some of these remarkable families. You’ll meet children learning Hebrew for the very first time, parents rebuilding their lives from the ground up, and families discovering that coming home to Israel is not the end of their journey—it is the beginning of a beautiful new chapter. We hope you’ll walk this journey with us as these stories unfold.
