When Jesus spoke about the harvest, His intention wasn’t only to let His disciples know that it was ripe and ready, but also that the workers were few for the amount of work that there was to do with such a plentiful harvest.
Interestingly enough, we are in harvest season here in Israel, and you can see all the fields being worked on in order to collect the harvest. It is a symbol of the spiritual harvest season we’re in these days in the Land. While Israel is still waging war against those who wish to see it annihilated with enemies pressing and attacking on every side, it is the perfect time to go into the fields of our nation and reap the harvest by preaching the good news of Jesus.
We see it with our own eyes, people who joined us at our Galilee evangelism event, their hunger and thirst to hear the gospel of salvation encounter God.
Israel’s biggest need these days is hope.
That is why God commanded the nations: “Comfort, comfort My people!”, and it is also why the prophet Isaiah proclaimed in chapter 61:1-3:
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
Seeing the nations turning their backs on Israel, in its hour of need while fighting for survival, hope and comfort is something this nation needs desperately. Regardless of who stands for or against Israel, we rely on the Lord who gave us eternal promises to not only never forsake His people, but be there to provide the comfort they so desperately need, beauty instead of ashes, and oil of joy instead of mourning.
God is pouring out His Spirit of comfort through the good news we are bringing people in our nation, the gospel of hope and salvation in Yeshua to bind up the brokenhearted.
