Needing a bomb shelter is a foreign concept for most people in the world, yet in Israel, it is an absolute necessity and part of our daily reality, especially in a time of war.
Taking on the task of fully renovating our bomb shelter so we can safely gather there in critical times, was not an easy decision. It requires a great deal of resources and is quite an investment.
However, knowing that a bomb shelter is not a “just in case” project, but an urgent need for our congregation these days propelled us to renovate it as soon as possible.
Great resources are needed, and God faithfully provided through YOUR generosity the funds needed to cover the cost of the first phase of renovations, such as flooring, wall reinforcing, updating electrical system and lighting, as well as refurbishing.
Currently, phase two requires some additional work such as: installing a new updated central AC system as the current one is not able to maintain a set temperature, purchasing a new sound system and music equipment for worship services, adding a stage and its accompanying lighting, and acoustic panels.
The goal is to have not just a basic functional bomb shelter, but a fully equipped one to provide a safe space for our congregation to gather for prayer, worship and services, even while the threat of a regional war is growing.
Being able to pray and worship safely shouldn’t be a luxury. Yet in Israel in these difficult days, it has become a necessity.
