Did you know that Joshua and Yeshua share the same Hebrew name?
This week’s Torah portion, Parashat Pinchas (Numbers 25:10–30:1), is a story of faithfulness, leadership, inheritance, and hope. As Israel prepares to enter the Promised Land, God confirms His covenant, raises up a new generation, appoints Joshua as Moses’ successor, and establishes the rhythm of worship that would shape the nation.
At the heart of this portion is an extraordinary picture of Yeshua.
Joshua—Yehoshua in Hebrew, meaning “The Lord is salvation”—was chosen to lead Israel into the land God had promised. His life points forward to Yeshua, who leads all who trust in Him into the fullness of God’s eternal Kingdom.
