Lessons from Jonah’s Disobedience

The prophet Jonah lived in the Galilee when God first spoke to him and called him to go to Nineveh.Jonah first went to Jaffa, where his struggle with obedience to God began.

Why would Jonah leave northern Galilee, go down to Jaffa, which is a port city located many miles away from Nineveh, which is in modern-day Iraq and is inland, with no access to the sea? Jonah didn’t need the port to travel to Nineveh. He went on a massive detour, trying his best to avoid doing what God called him to do. The Bible says Jonah was running away from the face of God.

The lessons of Jonah’s disobedience are as relevant to us today as they were thousands of years ago.

Join pastor Israel and his son Guy on a special tour of Old Jaffa, where they will walk you through the Bible, as well as the ancient port city of Jaffa, and share the profound message of Jonah’s life and the impact of trying to escape your God-given destiny.
