This week at Beit Hallel, as we reflect on both biblical truth and current events, we want to take a moment to honor and bless our American brothers and sisters as they celebrate Independence Day—a day that holds deep meaning not just for the United States, but prophetically for the world, and especially for Israel.
The Hebrew word for independence is “Atzma’ut” (עַצְמָאוּת). It’s a powerful word that shares a root with another significant Hebrew word: “Otzma” (עוֹצְמָה), which means strength.
What a connection! Independence and strength—two words that reflect not only political freedom, but also spiritual power and destiny.
Independence That Leads to Dependence on God
True independence, as we understand it through the lens of Scripture, is not about casting off all authority—it’s about walking into our God-given destiny. When a nation gains independence from man, it has the opportunity to gain deeper dependence on God.
As believers, we recognize that real freedom comes not from governments or human systems, but from the truth of God’s Word. Yeshua said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). That kind of freedom is lasting, eternal, and unshakable.
America’s Prophetic Role and Spiritual Destiny
As Israelis, we are deeply grateful for America’s unique and enduring friendship with Israel. Over the years, the United States has not only championed freedom and religious liberty around the world, but has also stood by Israel as a key ally—politically, morally, and spiritually.
In many ways, America’s destiny has been tied to its connection with Israel, and with the values of the Bible. The nation’s history is steeped in the belief that people should have the freedom to worship God, to pursue righteousness, and to bless others. That’s why this 4th of July is more than just a national holiday—it’s a reminder of calling and covenant.
As we celebrate with our American friends this week, we also want to take this moment to pray for America:
- May God fill your hearts with joy and the Holy Spirit.
- May He remind you of your calling as a nation that blesses Israel and stands for righteousness.
- And may He strengthen you with “Otzma”—supernatural strength to walk in truth, freedom, and purpose.
A Call to All Nations
Though this message highlights America’s Independence Day, we recognize that God is moving among the nations. And every nation—Africa, Asia, Europe, South America—is invited into God’s kingdom purposes.
So to our partners around the world:
Let us stand together, united in faith and truth. Let us bless one another. Let us bless America. And above all, let us lift high the name of Yeshua, the only One who brings lasting liberty—“Herut” (חֵרוּת) in Hebrew.
Otzma. Atzma’ut. Herut.
Strength. Independence. Liberty.
All of these point us back to our Creator—the source of all life and liberty.
