Then celebrate the Festival of Weeks to the LORD your God by giving a freewill offering in proportion to the blessings the LORD your God has given you.
Deutoronomy 16:10
The Lord’s math is just and fair; He doesn’t ask for more than He Himself gives us. He says we are to give a freewill offering “in proportion to the blessings the Lord has given you”. That kind of statement requires us to take a closer look at our own blessings, so that we realize just how blessed we are, and give accordingly.
Also, since it is the Feast of Harvest as well as Feast of Dedication, we are to collect our harvest and then dedicate it to the Lord.
Shavuot is all about counting our blessings, dedicating our success (harvest) to God, and paying tribute (dedicating) to the Lord by honoring His blessings in our lives.
