We recently had the incredible privilege of standing in a place where history, prophecy, and the present moment all collide—the breathtaking Golan Heights. It was more than just a visit; it was a deeply moving experience that stirred something in our spirits.
As we stood at this strategic and historic location, we could see Jordan stretching out to one side and Syria on the other. But beyond the beauty of the land, there was an undeniable weight in the atmosphere—a reminder of all that has taken place here and all that is yet to come.
We were inside a former Syrian military bunker, a dark and narrow place once used by Israel’s enemies. Before 1967, this very ground belonged to Syria, until God’s hand moved in the Six-Day War, restoring the land to Israel. Walking through the tunnels, knowing that they were once filled with soldiers seeking to destroy Israel, was sobering. And yet, standing there today, in a place that was once a stronghold of the enemy, we could feel the victory and protection of the Lord over His people.
Prophecy Unfolding Before Our Eyes
As we took in the view, a powerful scripture came to mind:
In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together.
Isaiah 19:23
Could we be witnessing the early signs of this prophecy? Just a short time ago, it would have been unthinkable to imagine Syria and Israel in any form of peace. Yet, in just a year and a half, the Middle East has shifted dramatically. The landscape of power is changing, and God is moving behind the scenes. While no one knows what the future holds, we know one thing for sure: His Word never fails!
A Place of War and a Place of Victory
This place is not only significant in prophecy but also in Israel’s modern history. Not far from where we stood, in 1946, the Palmach unit of the Israeli army carried out a daring operation known as the Night of the Bridges. Twelve key bridges were destroyed in one night, preventing enemy forces from moving freely into the Land of Israel. The remains of these bridges still stand today, a powerful testimony to the courage, wisdom, and resilience of Israel.
A Call to Prayer
As we stood there, looking out over the land, one thing was clear: we must continue to pray. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, for God’s hand over Israel, and for His plans to unfold in His perfect timing.
It is easy to look at the news and see conflict, but standing in that place reminded us that God is always in control. The same God who gave victory to Israel in the past is the same God who watches over His people today.
So we invite you, dear friends, to stand with us in faith.
Keep declaring God’s promises over this land.
Keep praying for the salvation of Israel.
And keep believing that one day, as Isaiah 19 declares, nations that once stood in opposition will worship the Lord together!
