The Favor of God
Turning Your Enemies into Friends

So David and the six hundred men with him left and went over to Achish son of Maok king of Gath. David and his men settled in Gath with Achish.

1 Samuel 27:2-3

We don’t really know what happened between the time that David was running away from Achish, the king of Gath, and the time David returned with 600 of his men and settled in Gath.

However, the fact that this is the place where David slaughtered Goliath, their local giant-hero, but then was able to establish a connection and come to an agreement with Achish so he could return and settle there, indicates how the blessing of God works.

When the blessing of the Lord is on you,  even your enemies will become your friends and they will welcome you to live among them.

There are scriptures that showcase how the Philistines gave refuge to King David. He would make his base among them, go out to wars, then return and dwell among them. It was an incredible chapter of David’s story. The city of Gath had a significant place in David’s life and journey, it became his home during an important season in his life.

When the favor of God is on our lives, even our enemies will become our friends.

It’s so important to not close doors and burn our bridges with people, but to be open and see what God is going to do, and how he will use certain situations and people in our lives that we could never have imagined would be anything more than enemies and obstacles.

The Lord is mighty to even touch your enemies, those who wronged you, and turn them into friends or those who benefit you on your journey.

Let’s seek the favor of God together and see what amazing miracles He can work in our lives that we could never have imagined!
