The history of Beit Hallel Congregation in Ashdod has always been one of challenges, obstacles, opposition and persecution. Yet, it has also been one of breakthroughs, divine opportunities, victories and growth.
Throughout the years, we have faced every possible attack; from a historic protest where 3000 Jewish Orthodox protestors gathered outside our church building in an attempt to push us out of the city, to smaller weekly protests, personally targeted attacks on our members, leadership team, and especially the pastor.
Utilizing their influence on key city officials, religious authorities also made us a target for political and legal persecution; whether by denying us different permits to operate as a house of worship, putting obstacles on every aspect of our ministry, even our crucial humanitarian work.
It has been our faith in the Lord’s promises to us, as well as the vision He gave us over 20 years ago, which not only sustained us through the toughest times of persecutions but helped us grow even more.
Crisis is the cradle of character. That is why Jesus taught us to rejoice in our hardships and persecution. It builds a resilience of faith and a clear focus on what this is all for — the Kingdom.
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Pastor Israel sat down for an intimate podcast where he had a chance to open up his heart and expose some deep experiences he’s faced over the years of being the senior pastor of Beit Hallel, and often times the target of these harsh attacks.
