What does God’s holiness look like in everyday life?
In this week’s Torah reading (Leviticus 9:1–11:47), we explore obedience, discernment, and how God calls us to live set apart through Yeshua (Jesus).

In this week’s Torah portion, we come to a powerful moment in Leviticus 9–11 where God’s holiness is revealed in both worship and daily life.
After seven days of preparation, the eighth day marks a new beginning. The priests begin their service, and the glory of the Lord appears before all the people. It is a reminder that faithful obedience prepares the way for God’s presence to be revealed.
But this portion also carries a sobering lesson. Nadav and Avihu offer “strange fire” before the Lord—worship that was not commanded. Through this, we see that God is not only loving, but holy. True worship must be aligned with His ways, not our own preferences.
The Lord then calls His people to discern—to distinguish between what is holy and what is common. This is not only for the priests, but for all of us. Spiritual maturity involves learning to recognize what honors God in our lives.
Finally, the instructions about clean and unclean show us that holiness is not distant or abstract. It touches how we live each day. Yeshua later teaches that true purity flows from the heart—but the call to live set apart remains.
As we walk through this portion, we are reminded:
God’s presence follows obedience.
Holiness matters.
Discernment is essential.
And through Yeshua, we are invited into a life that reflects Him—not only in worship, but in every area of our lives.
