God does not begin with pressure—He begins with His presence.

In this week’s Torah portion, Vayakhel, we see a powerful pattern in how God works with His people. Before there is building, before there is giving, God first gathers. He brings His people into His presence before asking anything from them.
The first instruction is not about work, but about Shabbat. This reminds us that everything we do for God must begin from a place of rest in Him, not pressure or striving.
From that place, the people of Israel are invited to bring a freewill offering—nedavah. This is not something forced, but something given willingly, from the heart. God is not looking for obligation, but for surrendered hearts.
We also see how God fills people with chokhmah—wisdom and skill—to build what He desires. In His Kingdom, every person has a place, and every gift matters.
This portion ultimately points us to Yeshua, who is still building a dwelling place for God—not through materials, but through people. Through willing hearts and simple obedience, He is forming something that carries His presence in the earth.
