This week, Pastor Israel and his son Guy visited one of Israel’s hidden treasures — the ancient city of Susiya, nestled deep in the Judean Desert. It’s a place most people have never heard of, and few have ever seen. Wind whispers through the stones, olive trees grow among the ruins, and the desert stretches endlessly beyond.
Yet even here, in this quiet and forgotten place, God left a powerful testimony.
Susiya was once a thriving Jewish settlement — home to thousands of people, built around a strong sense of faith and community. As in every Jewish town of that time, the synagogue stood at the very highest point, overlooking the city below. It was the heart of their lives, where families gathered to read Scripture, to pray, to celebrate, to remember who they were.
But as Pastor Israel and Guy explored the site, they stumbled upon something that left them speechless. Inside the ruins of the ancient synagogue, carved into the stone floor in clear Hebrew letters, was a name — a name that has changed the world forever: Yeshua.
Can you imagine that moment? Standing on the stones where people once prayed to the God of Israel — and seeing the name of Yeshua right there, engraved in the very heart of a Jewish synagogue.
It’s not a later Christian addition. This was a Jewish house of worship. The people who built it were Jewish, who lived and prayed and raised their children here centuries ago. And yet, someone — long before us — inscribed the name of Yeshua in their midst.
Next to that name are words that scholars translated as: “Yeshua is our witness and our attorney.”
How beautiful and how profound. The same truth that the Apostle John wrote centuries ago still echoes from these stones:
“We have an Advocate with the Father — Yeshua the Messiah, the Righteous One.”
1 John 2:1
It’s as if the ruins themselves are preaching. The stones cry out the message of redemption that has never been silenced. Even when generations tried to bury His name or forget His presence, He remained — quietly, faithfully, written into the story of His people and His land.
For Pastor Israel and Guy, it was a moving moment — not only as a discovery of history, but as a reminder of destiny. Because this is exactly what God is doing again in our days, he is uncovering what was hidden. He is restoring the knowledge of Yeshua to His people. The name once whispered in secret is being spoken again in the streets of Jerusalem, Ashdod, and throughout the Land of Israel.
From ancient inscriptions in forgotten ruins to the hearts of believers today, the witness of Yeshua still stands.
What an encouragement for us this Shabbat — to remember that our faith is not built on legends or ideas, but on a living Messiah whose name endures forever. His presence can still be found in the very soil of Israel, testifying that He is both our Advocate and our Redeemer, the One who stands before the Father on our behalf.
So as you rest this Shabbat, let your heart be still and full of wonder. The same Yeshua whose name was etched into the stones of Susiya now writes His name upon living hearts — yours and mine.
Shabbat Shalom from all of us at Beit Hallel.
May the peace of the Messiah be written over your home this day!
