When Hope Found Her in Jerusalem — Elena’s Story

When people leave everything behind in search of a new beginning, they often carry unseen wounds deep within their hearts. Recently, we met a woman whose journey to Israel began with war and uncertainty, but whose story became a powerful reminder that God still leads people gently toward hope, healing, and truth.

Elena and her husband immigrated to Israel from Russia together with their son during a season of great upheaval and uncertainty. Leaving behind their home, careers, and familiar life was not easy, yet they felt deeply compelled to begin a new chapter together as a family in Israel.

Like many new immigrants, the transition was not easy. Elena struggled to find work in her profession, yet despite the challenges, neither she nor her family wanted to return. Deep inside, they felt they were meant to be here. We first met Elena through our humanitarian projects and community excursions. She was kind, polite, and reserved, but not especially open to conversations about faith or prayer. You could sense that her heart was guarded by disappointment, uncertainty, and the emotional weight of everything she had left behind.

Then came a special trip to Jerusalem.

Elena traveled alone that day, without her husband or son. As our group walked along the ancient walls of Jerusalem, something unexpected happened. Because several people in the group began feeling unwell from the intense heat, the others turned back for a time. Somehow, in the middle of all the commotion, Elena and one of our team members found themselves walking ahead alone together, trying to find the way down from the walls. What seemed accidental became deeply divine.

As they walked through Jerusalem together, Elena slowly began to open up. For the first time, she truly started sharing her heart. The walls around her spirit seemed to soften while surrounded by the city where generations have cried out to God, searched for truth, and encountered His presence. Conversation flowed naturally, honestly, deeply. It was as though the Lord Himself had prepared that moment long before any of us realized it.

Later that day, after the group gathered again, another member of our team, Natalia, sat beside Elena and began speaking with her as well. Elena started asking questions — real questions, heartfelt questions — and Natalia shared openly about her own life and journey of faith. By the end of the evening, something had visibly changed. When we dropped Elena off from the bus, she was smiling warmly, her eyes shining with a joy and peace we had not seen before. She even invited our team to visit her family in their home.

Only a few days later, Elena attended one of our seminars where she continued learning and asking questions about God and the Scriptures. During that gathering, she received a Bible, prayed sincerely from her heart, and took a beautiful step forward in her spiritual journey. Watching how quickly God moved once her heart opened was truly overwhelming.

Looking back now, we can see how faithfully the Lord was leading her step by step all along — through the hardship of leaving home, through relationships formed during outreach projects, through one walk on the walls of Jerusalem, through simple conversations filled with compassion and truth. None of it was random.

This is why your prayers and support matter so much.

Every project, every excursion, every act of kindness, every conversation over coffee or on a bus ride can become holy ground where someone encounters the love of God in a life-changing way. Sometimes hearts do not open all at once. Sometimes the Lord gently prepares them over time until suddenly the moment comes when hope breaks through the darkness. And in those moments, lives are changed forever.

Thank you for helping us continue reaching people like Elena here in Israel — people searching for belonging, truth, healing, and hope during uncertain times. Together, we are witnessing God draw hearts to Himself in the most personal and beautiful ways.

The Unexpected Encounter That Gave Marina Hope

Marina* came to our Sukkot celebration carrying a fear she could do nothing about. Her son was in prison in Ukraine, badly wounded, and she did not know what would happen to him. She had no idea that among the people she would meet that day was someone whose own story would touch hers in […]

The Work He Left In Our Hands —
Galilee Evangelism Campaign

Here in Israel, many people can know the names of biblical places and the stories connected with them — and still know very little about who Yeshua really is. For many of the new Jewish immigrants we meet, Israel itself is also new. They are building a life in a new country, discovering the land, […]

“Please Don’t Wait Too Long” —
Holocaust Survivors Project Report

Some of the Holocaust survivors who walked into our gathering in Ashdod already knew us. Others did not. We could see the hesitation on a few faces, and we understood it. They had been invited into a room with people they barely knew — and we were wondering how they would respond when we spoke […]

Inside the Sukkah:
Remembering the God Who Provides

One of the things I love about Sukkot is how many simple reminders of God’s faithfulness surround us during this Feast. We build the sukkah, we sit beneath its branches, we share meals together as families, and we remember something our people have needed to remember for thousands of years: everything we have ultimately comes […]

Hebrew Word of the Week:
Adonai Uzzi (יְהוָה עֻזִּי) —
The LORD Is My Strength

We all become tired sometimes, and I don’t mean only physically. There is another kind of tiredness that comes when you have been carrying something for a long time. You have prayed, you have tried to make the right decisions, you have kept going, but the situation has still not changed. After some time, you […]

“Don’t Forget Us. Come Again” —
Holocaust Survivors Praise Report

The Moroccan food was a hit. We had brought it from Ashdod for a gathering with Holocaust survivors in Jerusalem, and before long people around the tables were asking about our city. What is Ashdod like? Could they come visit sometime? We loved that. Somewhere between passing plates, talking across the table and getting to […]
